Doshisha University was founded in 1875 by Joseph Hardy Neesima (Jo Niijima).
Since its founding, Doshisha has been upholding the three educational principles: Christian principles, liberalism, and internationalism. Our mission is to nurture students who can contribute to the society by exercising their intelligence and ability according to the dictates of their conscience.
